Training visa

The 407 Training visa is designed for international candidates who wish to complete workplace-based occupational training in Australia. The primary goal is to help individuals improve their skills in a particular job, field of expertise, or professional development. The visa can be granted for a period of up to two years and is divided into three streams:

  • Training required for occupational registration

  • Training to enhance skills in an eligible occupation

  • Capacity building overseas

Application consists of a three stage process

Sponsorship required documents:

  1. Company registration documents (ABN or ARBN certificates)

  2. Extract from ASIC’s business name register

  3. Financial documents (e.g., profit and loss statements, tax returns, BAS, bank statements)

  4. Lease agreements and proof of business operations

Nomination required documents:

  1. Employment Contract and Position Description – These documents outline the job role and ensure the candidate’s work aligns with the training objectives.

  2. Letter of Support – Employers must submit a letter endorsing the need for the candidate’s training in the nominated role.

  3. Workplace-based Training Plan – A customized training plan must be provided, highlighting how the candidate will benefit from hands-on experience in Australia.

Visa application documents:

  1. Passport and recent passport-sized photos

  2. CV/Resume highlighting relevant work experience or study in the past 24 months

  3. Proof of functional English proficiency (test results)

  4. Police clearances from all countries where the candidate has lived for 12 months or more in the past decade

  5. Health assessments and health insurance coverage

  6. For secondary applicants (spouse or dependents), additional documents are required, such as marriage certificates, birth certificates, and proof of dependency.

To successfully submit a request for this visa, both the candidate and the sponsoring employer must meet a series of documentation and eligibility criteria.

The submission process can be complex, requiring detailed documentation at every stage. Employers and candidates alike must ensure they provide accurate and complete documentation to avoid delays or refusal of the visa
