  • The Skills in Demand (SID) visa requires an Employer Sponsor and offers a pathway to permanent residency through visas like the Employer Nomination (subclass 186) or the Regional Sponsored (subclass 187). 


    To apply for the Skills in Demand visa, the English requirements

    • IELTS score of 5.0 overall, with a minimum score of 5.0 in each component (or equivalent)

    • PTE overall test score of at least 36 with a score of at least 36 in each of the test components

    • No Sponsorship: Applicants are not required to be sponsored by an employer, state, or territory. 

    • Independence: You can live and work anywhere in Australia. 

    • Points-based: Eligibility is determined by a points test, assessing factors like age, English language skills, work experience, and qualifications. 

    • Permanent Residence: Grants permanent residency in Australia. 

    The higher your score on your English test, the more points you can get towards your migration application.

    Competent English is required:

    • IELTS is at least 6 fo​r each of the 4 components

    • PTE at least 50 for each of the 4 components
